Information for International Students
Located on the Susquehanna River in central Pennsylvania, Lock Haven University offers a safe and nurturing environment for international students who want to obtain a rigorous American style comprehensive education. Lock Haven University offers over 60 undergraduate programs to choose from.
LHU boasts a long and proud history of international involvements since 1974. The
University represents “home” for many international students studying for either a
semester or a 4-year degree. At any one time there are more than 100 international
students from almost 40 countries on our campus.
If you are a student traveling to Lock Haven from another country you’ll have lots
of questions. We’ll help you find the answers. Below you’ll find links that will be
helpful to you for planning your education in the US, and specifically at LHU. Please

Carefully complete the online application form. This information is used to create a permanent record for each student. A non-refundable application fee of $25.00 (twenty five dollars U.S.) must be paid with a credit card at the time the online application is submitted. No action will be taken on your application until this fee is received by the Office of Admissions. Students should apply and submit all required documents at least three months prior to the intended enrollment date and must send a copy of the information page of their valid passport.
All students applying for admission to Lock Haven University with transcripts from a non-U.S. institution are required to submit an official educational credential evaluation of transcripts, academic records, diplomas, national examination results, certificates or degrees received from all secondary, post-secondary, university and/or professional schools. We recommend the company World Education Services, Inc. (WES) for this service. WES requires applicants to submit clear and legible photocopies of word-for-word English translations along with their foreign language documents.

Freshmen applicants should select the "document-by-document" report.
Transfer applicants should select the "course-by-course report." Students transferring from a post-secondary institution within the USA should request to have their official transcript sent directly to the LHU Office of Admissions.
LHU will also accept official copies that have been certified by EducationUSA.
English Proficiency Exams
International applicants must submit at least one exam score report. International students currently enrolled in a U.S. institution may not need to submit a language exam if they have successfully completed more than one semester of for credit academic study.
Applicants from the following countries do not need to submit a English proficiency exam score: American Samoa, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada (except Quebec), Dominica, Grenada, Grand Cayman, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Liberia, New Zealand, Trinidad & Tobago, United Kingdom (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales), and U.S. Pacific Trust.
Minimum Score Requirement:
Combined verbal and math score of 900, with at least 500 on critical reading section
Composite of 20 with individual English and reading scores at or above 20
The LHU Immigration Document Application for Matriculating (4 year) Studentsmust be completed and approved for admission to Lock Haven University. An official bank statement in the name of the sponsor indicated on the affidavit of financial support must be dated within the last six (6) months and must indicate the exact account balance. Solvency certificates are not acceptable. Your acceptance letter and student I-20 will not be issued without the bank statement and a completed Immigration Document Application form.

Students may have an official scholarship or government sponsorship award letter sent in their name. A signed letter or affidavit of support giving details regarding the promise of support and state the specific amount of money in U.S. dollars should be sent.
Financial Assistance for International Students
Lock Haven University has very limited resources to assist International students in meeting the cost of their studies. However, if you believe you will need financial aid, you and your primary guardian or sponsor may apply for a tuition fee waiver by completing an Application for Financial Assistance for International Students. Completed applications should be sent it to Lock Haven University along with an official bank statement in the name of the sponsor indicated on the affidavit of financial support.
Medical History Form
All students must complete and submit a Medical History Form. The medical history form can be found online at http://www.lhup.edu/students/student_resources/health_services/.
