ASN Admissions Process & Requirements

APPLY ONLINE FOR NURSING AT CLEARFIELD CAMPUS.  All applications are processed through the Admissions Office at the Clearfield Campus of LHU. The Admissions Office will correspond with you to inform you as to missing paperwork or inability to meet the competitive prerequisite requirements listed below. 

1.SAT (prior to March 2016)  a score of 900 minimum (highest combined critical reading and math)

- SAT March 2016- present) a score in the range of 1000 (highest combined EBRW and math)

- ACT- composite minimum of 20

2. As per State Board of Nursing:  “Applicants shall have completed work equal to a standard high school course with a  minimum of 16 units, including 4 units of English, 3 units of Social Studies, 2 units of Mathematics (1 of which is Algebra), and 2 units of Science with a related laboratory or the equivalent.” The above statement means you have received a high school diploma or GED.

3. In order to schedule for the entrance exam for our program you are required high school level Algebra, Academic Chemistry (with a lab component), and Academic Biology (with a lab component).  A grade of C or above, and a GPA of 2.70 or above is required for consideration of the course(s) as fulfillment of prerequisites.  If these were achieved at the college level, this is also acceptable.  Should you be deficient in one of these areas, you will be required to successfully complete the deficient course(s) with a grade of C or better prior to acceptance consideration.  G.E.D. students must meet the same requirements.

The Nursing Department Admissions Committee will select the 50 most qualified to fill the class for the coming academic year.
