TEAS Exam Information

  • All applicants must take the computerized Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) entrance exam after completion of the prerequisite courses necessary and achieving a GPA of 2.7 or above or SAT scores of 900 or above for the nursing program.  This exam is taken one time and is an indicator for admission to the nursing program.

  • A Test of Essential Academic Skills Pre-Test Study Manual Ver. V is recommended and can be purchased in the Clearfield Campus Bookstore or at the LHU online bookstore site. Prior to taking the exam, the student may access atitesting.com, create an account and take a practice exam for a fee if so desire but not required.

  • The exam consists of four sections, Reading, Math, Science, and English.  The exam will consist of 170 questions, 30-55 in each area.

  • Use of a calculator is not  permitted for the math portion of the exam. 

  • Exams will be scheduled on Fridays from September through May.Check the LHU nursing website at http://www.lhup.edu/Clearfield/nursing/asn/teas_exam.html for the test dates and times.

  • Once applicant receives notification of eligibility for exam, they register for TEAS online.

  • This computerized test is ONLY offered at the Clearfield Campus.

  • All applicants will be responsible for the $55.00 exam fee payable by credit card ONLY.

  • The exam MUST BE SCHEDULED IN ADVANCE– you cannot test without prior sign up with the nursing department.

  • Students, please allow 3.5 hours for testing.

  • To begin the ASN Nursing program in the fall of any year, you should take the TEAS exam by the end of February of the year you want to enter. For example, if you are interested in coming into nursing the fall of 2016, you should complete the TEAS exam by the end of February 2016.  Prospective students taking the exam after February may be placed on a waiting list for that year. You will receive  copy of your test results for your record the day you take the exam from the nursing department and your next step in the process.
