Constitution
Article
I--Name
This organization shall be known
as the Lock Haven University English Club
Article
II--Purpose
The
purpose of this club is to organize and promote activities related to
literature, language, poetry, and writing.
Article
III--Membership
Section 1. Membership shall be open to all students of Lock Haven
University who are interested in literature, language, poetry, and
writing.
Section 2.
Active members who have attended 75% of the business meetings during a semester are the ones who will
vote in the officers. Business meetings will be called by the President,
and will be attended by the active Board Members.
Section 3. There are no dues collected.
Article IV--Faculty
Advisor
Section 1. The faculty advisor(s) shall be a member or members of the
Lock Haven University faculty.
Section 2. When an advisor resigns, officers of the Club will contact
professors seeking
a replacement. The advisor must be approved by a majority of active
members present at
a Business Meeting.
Section 3. The Advisor shall attend all Board meetings and other
meetings as schedules permit.
Article V--Officers
Section 1. The elected officers shall constitute a Board, consisting of
a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Publicity Officer. All
officers must be in good academic standing at Lock Haven University.
Section 2. The President will be responsible for calling and chairing
meetings. He/she will also be empowered to call other Business meetings as
needed. The President will act as the club representative.
Section 3. The Vice-President will be responsible for acting in the
absence of the President. She/he will be in charge of maintaining
membership records, and will also act as a liaison to the advisor. She/he
will present the annual club report to the S.C.C. Senate.
Section 4. The Secretary will be in charge of
keeping and maintaining minutes of organizational meetings. S/he will be
responsible for sending copies of reports to the S.C.C. S/he will keep
attendance and also submit a club roster to the S.C.C. each semester.
Section 5.
The Treasurer will be responsible for keeping records of all of the
funds collected and dispersed. S/he shall be responsible for submitting
the annual budget to the S.C.C. Treasurer.
Section 6. The Publicity officer will be in
charge of publicizing the Club and its activities; with the power to
solicit help from the membership.
Article VI--Elections
Section 1. Elections will take place at the end of the Spring semester,
unless an officer resigns, in which case a special Business Meeting may be
held. The officers will hold office for the following academic year.
Section 2. Voting shall be done by secret ballot.
Article
VII--Meetings
Section 1. Meeting times will be
presented at the end of each General Meeting.
Section 2. The President can call a Business meeting at any time.
Article VIII--Amendments
This
constitution may be amended by a three-fourths majority vote of active
members of a Business Meeting.
Article IX
This
organization shall also abide by any and all S.C.C. procedures,
guidelines, and the S.C.C. constitution, as well as those found in the
L.H.U. Handbook.
