In November of 2000, The PA State System of Higher Educationís
(PASSHE) Board of
Governors approved a contract with Unisys Corporation to develop and
implement a shared administrative system using SAP (Systems,
and Products for Data Processing) software for all 14 campuses, the Educational Resources
Group (ERG), and the Dixon Center. A shared system integrates a variety of
operating functions such as payroll, human resources, accounting,
purchasing, and budgeting. And yes, thatís
pronounced S - A - P (as opposed to "sap").
The intent of this project is to create a
system that is compatible with newer technologies and that offers more
flexibility, resulting in better service and improved efficiency. Also,
warehouse project is being developed to store current and historical data and to
allow for the consolidation and analysis of all data collected by the
universities. Network upgrades are planned to support SAP.
Human resources and
payroll in January, 2004 and the finance/purchasing module in December, 2003. Examples of business transactions that
will be performed using SAP include travel requests, purchase orders, time and attendance reporting, and
eventually employee self-service for personnel data.
