Continents and Oceans of the World

Grade Level: ABE 5 – 8

Objective: To identify the seven continents and five oceans of the world

Materials: Computer with Internet access

Computer printer

Blank outline map of the world

Pencil and paper

Procedures: Discuss the need to identify and locate the world’s continents and oceans as knowledge required for the GED test. As a group, discuss and list where this information might be found. As time allows, have students search independently. Have on hand addresses that contain the information.

Method of Evaluation: Using the Internet, students will locate maps containing the continents and oceans and label their blank maps. Students will also list locations where the information was found. The completed map is evidence of the lesson.
