A study of
the architecture, sculpture and painting in Italy, Flanders,
Holland, Germany, England, and Spain, with an emphasis on the
general characteristics of the Renaissance.

Modern art from
1800-1940. Emphasis is placed on the development of
concepts relating to modern art and the philosophy underlying
the development of various styles of art in the Nineteenth and
early Twentieth Centuries.

HUMANITIES SEMINAR: ART STUDIES IN AMERICAN MUSEUMS (3
sh)
Designed to give students the experience of the arts present
in American museums. Using special exhibitions and
museums as a classroom, the course will cover selected
topics such as Women Artists Working in America or
French Influence on the Art and Architecture of America
at different museum settings. Selected works will be
discussed and analyzed with a concentration on art, historic
significance and culture.

ART: UNITY IN DIVERSITY (3 sh)
An historical
survey of American art covering prehistoric through modern
eras. In addition
to the American core culture, it includes typical
contributions of minorities, such as American Indians, African
Americans, Hispanic Americans, and women artists of all ethnic
groups.
