How to schedule classes using web registration

All registration activities will be performed with web registration.  You will be unable to access web registration, however, until after you have met with your faculty advisor or major department chair and been “cleared to schedule”.  Be aware that finding a mutually convenient meeting time with an advisor is not always done easily, so don’t wait until the last minute.  Also, bring with you to the meeting a copy of your Web Degree Audit Report showing courses you have completed or still need to complete.  The Advisory Period is March 25 to May 2, with actual registration beginning March 26 for graduate students/April 2 for most seniors; students register according to earned credits (see time-chart).  Students with unpaid University accounts must clear their accounts with the Student Financial Services Office in Russell Hall  (484-2344) to be allowed access to web registration.

The following are frequently asked questions (FAQ) that should provide all the information you need to use web registration.

WHEN IS THE ADVISORY PERIOD?  It is scheduled March 25 to May 2.

WHERE DO I GET A COPY OF THE FALL SCHEDULE OF CLASSES?   A schedule of classes is visible on the LHUP Web Site.

WHEN IS FALL PREREGISTRATION?  Pre-registration is scheduled the following dates:  April 2, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 12.  Campus computer labs are available for student use.  YOUR starting time is based on YOUR earned credits.  (Earned hours do not include currently enrolled hours.)  To obtain your registration time, access “Registration for Students” on the University website (student ID and PIN required).  Your correct registration time will appear after you set options to Fall 2008.

WHAT DO I NEED TO ACCESS WEB REGISTRATION?  You will need your student ID, PIN, and a proposed class schedule, with alternates, developed in consultation with your faculty advisor.  For web registration, access the LHUP Web Site http://www.lhup.edu and click 'Registrar/Registration', 'Registration Information,' then 'Student Information System (Registration) for Students'.  Remember to set options for Fall 2008.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE ON THE SYSTEM?  Prepare in advance--don't tie up the system and waste time trying to develop your schedule for the very first time while on line.  If possible, have at least one "same time" alternate for every course or section you wish.

HOW MANY CREDITS MAY I REGISTER?  You may register for up to 17.5 sh until April 13.  Beginning April 14, students may register to 18.0 sh via web registration.  Students who want to take more than 18.0 sh must complete the Change of Schedule form (the second section of the form, Attempting to Add Beyond 18.0 sh) and submit it to the Registrar's Office (or the Clearfield Office).

WHAT IF I HAVE PROBLEMS?  You can phone 484-2006 Monday through Friday 8 to 4 PM.  Again, be sure the options are set to Fall 2008.  You may experience slow performance at peak hours on web registration (most students want to get into the system at the first opportunity).  Slow performance does not mean the system is not working--it means lots of students are using the system.  It is impossible to schedule before the assigned time so please don’t try.

WHEN DO I ACCESS WEB REGISTRATION?  Students are divided into groups according to earned credits.  Earned hours do not include currently enrolled hours.  Those with the most credits, in descending order, have pre-registration priority and each group has a specific beginning date and time.  Schedule changes may be done anytime after that date (except for occasional times when the system may be shut down for maintenance).

HOW DO I ADD/DROP COURSES?  Access web registration.  You'll need the catalog and section number associated with each section from the Course Offerings on the LHUP Web Site.

WHEN IS THE DROP/ADD PERIOD?  Web registration is accessible most of the time, except at pre announced times.  Those wanting to register for a course(s) but who have not satisfied a requirement(s) or prerequisite(s) (or the course is closed) may, under special circumstances, add the course if approved by the appropriate department chairperson.

WHAT IF A COURSE HAS A "REQUIREMENT"?  If a course is listed with a requirement (e.g., for majors only, "restricted to BA candidates", etc.), students will be prevented from registering for the course.  Contact the department chairperson if you are blocked and feel you should be permitted to enroll.

WHAT IF A COURSE HAS A "PREREQUISITE"?  Students who have not fulfilled the prerequisite (i.e., Principles of Biology 1 for Principles of Biology 2) cannot register for the course.  Under special circumstances, chairs may make exceptions.

WHAT IF THERE IS A "HOLD" ON MY PREREGISTRATION?  With a "hold" on one's record, it is impossible to register for courses; contact the appropriate office as noted on the hold and ask for details.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY CLASS SCHEDULE?  Your class schedule is accessible on the web.   Your student bill will be mailed in July.

COMPLIANCE WITH SECTION 504
