Certification Requirement Checklist/Timeline

q       Study hard… maintain a 3.0 G.P.A.

q       Meet your advisor / program coordinator

 

q       Enroll in the appropriate freshman seminar

q       Complete Entrance Essay, Diversity Profile Plan, Have (3) people complete the communication/disposition form for you

 

 

q       Study hard… maintain a 3.0 G.P.A.

q       Meet with your advisor / program coordinator

 

NOTE: You must successfully complete 3 credits of English composition, 3 credits of English literature and 6 credits of Math by the end of your 3rd semester.

You must complete (or be enrolled in) EDUC 101 Social Foundations of Education and PSYC 103 Adolescent Development (and PSYC 102 Child Development for Foreign Language program only) by the end of your 4th semester.

q       Study hard… maintain a 3.0 G.P.A.

q       Meet with your advisor / program coordinator

q       Register for and pass all 3 PRAXIS I exams

              10710 PPST Reading

                  20720 PPST Writing

                  10730 PPST Math

q       Get Act 34 and Act 151 clearances (must reapply yearly)

q       Get TB test (negative result must be obtained every 2 years)

q       Get liability insurance (must reapply yearly)

q       Enroll in Block I for the spring semester

q       Study hard… maintain a 3.0 G.P.A.

q       Meet with your advisor / program coordinator

 

q       Successfully complete all Block I courses

q       Begin construction of Developing Portfolio in LiveText

q       Apply for candidacy (only if you meet all requirements)

q       Meet with your advisor / program coordinator

 

q       Apply for candidacy (you must be a candidate before you may present your Developing Portfolio)

q       Complete Developing Portfolio in LiveText

q       Schedule and make Developing Portfolio Presentation with your program coordinator

q       Complete the Portfolio Presentation Reflective essay

q       Update clearances, TB tests, liability insurance as needed

q       Complete tutoring requirement as outlined for your program during fall or spring semester

q       Study hard… maintain a 3.0 G.P.A.

q       Meet with your advisor / program coordinator

 

q       Complete tutoring requirement as outlined for your program during fall or spring semester

q       Enroll in Block II for the fall semester

q       Study hard… maintain a 3.0 G.P.A.

q       Meet with your advisor / program coordinator

 

q       Update clearances, TB tests, liability insurance as needed

q       Successfully complete all Block II courses

q       Register for and pass PRAXIS II

q       Attend student teaching meeting and apply for student teaching

 

q       Meet with your advisor / program coordinator

 

q       Student Teach Complete Student Teaching Portfolio and Presentation

q       Apply for LHUP graduation

q       Apply for PA certification

 

NOTE:  Achieving Candidacy status indicates formal acceptance into a teacher certification program. This is a requirement of the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
