When should I apply?
LHU is on rolling admissions, which means that we accept applications until our class is full. However, it is highly recommended to apply prior to January 1st to ensure plenty of time to complete the application process. Save $15.00 on the application fee by APPLYING ONLINE.

Do I need to wait for my SAT scores before I can apply?
No. It is best to apply as early as possible. Once your SAT scores arrive, a review of your application file will be made and you will be notified by mail.

Is there an application fee?
For the LHU online application, the $25.00 application fee must be paid with a credit card at the time the application is submitted. If a student completes the paper application, the application fee is $40.00 and must accompany the application. Applying online through any site other than the LHU website requires the $40 fee.

What are the minimum academic requirements for admission?
A high school curriculum that includes college preparatory courses in English, social studies, math and science. Two years of foreign language are preferred but not required. A high school curriculum that is college preparatory in nature does not include technical, vocational or applied courses. An acceptable college preparatory curriculum includes academic courses that are specifically geared toward preparing a student for college. Although Honors or Advanced Placement (AP) courses are not required for admission, they do carry extra weight in the application review process.

Where is the Office of Admission located?
The Office of Admissions is located on the first floor of the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center (DACC)l. Visitors should obtain a visitor's parking pass from the Office of Admissions to display on the dashboard of their vehicle. Refer to our online campus map for more information.

When will I receive a schedule?
All first time LHU students will have a schedule completed for them by the Registrar's Office. When designing a schedule, the Registrar will consider courses required for your major as well as course availability. You will be able to drop/add to suit your needs during the first week of classes.

Will I have a roommate?
Yes. The residence hall rooms are designed for double occupancy. Students wishing to room together must each submit a letter to the Housing Office. Students who do not have a specific roommate request will be mailed a roommate compatibility sheet in early-May.

What is Lock Haven's code for the SAT?
LHU's code number is 2654. Listing LHU's code on your SAT registration form will allow us to receive an official copy of your SAT scores directly from the College Board.
Do you have a modern library?
With more than 350,000 volumes, an in-house computer facility and children's library, we are not surprised that LHU's library is used more than any other state system library.

Are there computers on campus for students to use?
Yes. There are seven main computer labs on campus. In addition, each of our seven residence halls house a small computer lab for use by building residents.

How is the food at LHU?
The newly renovated Bentley Dining Hall offers a great selection of choices. The upstairs dining area is "all you can eat", while the downstairs dining area is an "a la carte" food court. Students choosing to dine upstairs have great choices such as grill items, fresh pasta, pizza, deli, salad bar, dessert, fruit cart and much more! Downstairs includes Starbucks, Freshens, C3, & Quiznos!

Can I choose my roommate?
Students wishing to room together must each submit a letter to the Housing Office. Students who do not have a specific roommate request will be mailed a roommate compatibility sheet in early May.

Are you a “suitcase college?”
No, the majority of our students live 3+ hours away from Lock Haven and remain on campus most weekends.

Can I have a car on campus?
Students must have 48 earned credits to receive a parking permit from the Public Safety Office. Students with extenuating circumstances may contact the Public Safety Office for more information.
