Angela Hakes
Assistant Director of Admissions

Hi there! My name is Angela Hakes and I am an Assistant Director of Admissions here at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. My territory includes the south central and western PA. During my travels, I meet with students and guidance counselors in high schools and college fairs. If you’re interested in knowing when I may be visiting your area or would like to schedule a visit on campus, feel free to contact me at any time or visit www.lhup.edu/admissions for more information.

Being a proud alumna, I graduated from LHU in December of 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Media (formerly Mass Communications/Journalism). I have concentrations in Public Relations, Advertising and Broadcast Journalism. In January of 2006, I returned to LHU to further my education by taking classes in Elementary Education. My first day on campus, I ran into several professors I once had almost 4 years prior… they had recognized me and called me by name… At LHU, you will receive a personalized education, which was always #1 on my list!

During my undergraduate experience, I was part of the Hip Hop Dance Team and Habitat for Humanity. After traveling to Phoenix City, AL, with the LHU Habitat for Humanity group during Spring Break 2002, I took an internship position in the Public Relations department at an affiliate in Jacksonville, FL. I returned to Jacksonville upon graduating to fill the position of Special Projects Coordinator for HabiJax (Habitat for Humanity).

On a personal note: I graduated from Montgomery Area High School in 1998 where I played softball, basketball and was a majorette for 15 years. I am the oldest of four and come from a very close-knit family. I married my best friend, Nathan, in June 2007, and I’m excited for what lies in our future. In August 2006, Nathan finished four years in the U.S. Air Force and served three tours of duty in Iraq. He is currently a student at LHU and is in the ARMY National Guard and ROTC program.

Through life’s many experiences, one thing holds true… “Knowledge is power” (Francis Bacon). I congratulate you on taking the first steps that will pave your way into the future and wish all seniors the best of luck during your final year in high school. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have, so feel free to contact me via email: ahakes@lhup.edu or by calling 1-800-332-8900.

Best wishes and I look forward to seeing you at “The Haven”!
