Information for International Students

Admission Requirements

Lock Haven University requires the following for admission as an International Student:

Official LHU Application and Fee:

Carefully complete the online application form. This information is used to create a permanent record for each student. A non-refundable application fee of $25.00 (twenty five dollars U.S.) must be paid with a credit card at the time the online application is submitted. No action will be taken on your application until we receive this fee.

Academic Transcripts :
All students who apply for admission to Lock Haven University with transcripts from a U.S. High School, American School Abroad, or an IB secondary school, must submit an official transcript directly to LHU.

All students who apply for admission to Lock Haven University with transcripts from a non- U.S. institutions are required to submit an official educational credential evaluation of transcripts, academic records, diplomas, national examination results, certificates or degrees received from all secondary, post-secondary, university and/or professional schools. We recommend the company World Education Services, Inc. (WES) for this service.  LHU will also accept official copies that have been certified and attested by EducationUSA as well.

TRANSFERS:

Students transferring from a U.S. university must submit your academic credentials for evaluation to LHU. Non- U.S. institution transfer applicants should request the Course-by-Course Evaluation directly from WES or EducationUSA. We must receive the ORIGINAL credential evaluations or transcripts.

Testing:
International students need to submit one exam for admission to Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. (International students currently enrolled in a U.S. instution may not need to submit a language exam if they have sucessfully completed more than one semester of for credit academic study).

  • The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) administered by the Education Testing Service. A minimum score of 213 (computer-based), 79-80 (internet-based) or 550 (paper-based).
  • Students may also choose to submit an IELTS, with a minimum score of a 5.5.
  • Official SAT scores submitted to LHU through Collegeboard
  • ACT score

Financial Support Statement:
The LHU Financial Support Statement (FSS) must be completed and approved for admission to Lock Haven University. The LHU Financial Support Statement (FSS) must be completed and approved for admission to Lock Haven University. Official bank statement in the name of the sponsor indicated on the affidavit of financial support. Statement must be dated within the last six (6) months and must indicate the exact account balance. Solvency certificates are not acceptable. Your acceptance letter and student I-20 will not be issued without the bank statement and the FSS form.

OR

An official scholarship or government sponsorship award letter in your name. Enclose a signed letter or affidavit of support giving details regarding the promise of support and state the specific amount of money in U.S. dollars.

Passport:

LHU requests that all students submit a copy of the information page of their valid passport.

Student Medical History Report:
All students must submit a completed medical history report for approval once admitted to Lock Haven University. The medical history report may be downloaded from the International Application page

Optional:

Essay, Letters of Recommendation, or Interview

When to Apply

Application materials, TOEFL test scores, Financial Support Statements must be received at least three months prior to the intended enrollment date.

How to Apply

To apply for admission, submit the following documents:

  1. $25.00 (twenty five dollars U.S.) processing fee for an online application (this fee cannot be waived).
  2. Student Application for Admission (Application Online)
  3. Official test scores – forwarded directly to LHU from the Testing Service
  4. Completed Educational Credential Evaluation from WES or EducationUSA
  5. Completed Financial Support Statement
  6. Completed Students Medical History Report (due upon arrival to LHU)
