We want Lock Haven University to be exactly what our name implies— a haven.

Office of Human and Cultural Diversity

This office offers academic support programs and scholarship opportunities, some of theses include:

  • Focus Program
    Is an academic success program designed to enhance the grade point average of participants
  • Frederick Douglass Lending Library
    The purpose of the Fredrick Douglass Lending Library is to help financially challenged and matriculating underrepresented students obtain the necessary textbooks for their academic classes
  • Minority Book Scholarship
    The Minority Book Scholarship is distributed based solely on academic performance each semester and full time status
  • Board of Governor’s Scholars Program
    Award: Up to full tuition
    Requirements: This scholarship, which is for Pennsylvania residents with high academic achievement in high school, is used to promote diversity and to recruit students with special talents. Entering freshmen meeting these requirements will be invited to apply for this award. This four-year program requires maintenance of a pre-determined grade point average.
  • Navigator
    The Navigator Program is a multicultural student success program designed to enhance the academic, self-esteem, confidence and leadership performance of Lock Haven University students

Clubs and Organizations

There is never a dull moment on a college campus with more than 120 clubs and organizations to join. Here are a few of the clubs that promote diversity on campus:

Support on Campus

Worried about not getting enough support on campus, we offer a variety of programs to help every student feel welcomed. Here are a few services that Lock Haven University offers:

  • Math Center
    Designed to help students who need extra help with mathematics
  • Writing Center
    Designed to assist students in correcting grammatical errors on all papers
  • Tutorial Services
    Services provided to help students in group or individual settings with some 100, and 200 level courses.
