Dear members,

This week will be an historic one for AFSCME members. Thousands of our AFSCME brothers and sisters will debate – and decide – nothing less than the direction and the future of our union.

37th International Convention – Bold, New Plan for Change

At our 37th International Convention, which begins in Chicago today, more than 3,000 AFSCME delegates, representing AFSCME’s 1.4 million members across the nation, will vote on a top-to-bottom strategic overhaul of AFSCME and a bold, new plan to build more power for workers.

You can read more about the 21st Century Initiative, as well as updates throughout the week on the 37th International Convention by going to AFSCME’s brand-new website and blog -- which officially launched today. (See below for more details.)

All New AFSCME.org – Officially Launches Today

Today also marks the official launch of the brand-new AFSCME website. It’s a completely new design to provide you with more resources, news and updates than ever before. The site has a totally new design to make it easier for you to find what you’re looking for – and to hear from (and see!) your fellow AFSCME members.

Below are just a few of the features of the new site. Check it out for yourself and then tell us what you think.  Go to www.afscme.org.

AFSCME Homepage – A completely redesigned homepage with a special LiveWire section of multimedia, blog posts and more.

Video and Audio – Now you can watch some of your favorite AFSCME videos, and new ones, too – like members speaking out on privatization and outsourcing.

Member Stories – Read your fellow members' personal stories about how the health care crisis has affected them and their families, and then tell your own health care story.

Members-Only Section – This section of afscme.org has content especially for members. From the latest savings on travel and automotive service, to scholarship information, to training programs and collective bargaining resources, it's all here.

AFSCME Store – T-shirts, hats, bags and more at http://www.afscmestore.org.

Updated Publications – From information on the Family and Medical Leave Act, to a guide on retirement, to a Lobbying Toolkit, you can find what you need in our new publications section.

GreenLine The AFSCME Blog – For commentary on hot issues, breaking news and Convention updates go to www.afscmeblog.org.

These are just some of the enhancements. So click around, and then tell us what you think about the site by sending an e-mail to afscmepa@afscme.org.

In solidarity,

Tracey Conaty
