Program Overview
The Fine Arts major learns that humanity provides the background for all art. It is the human experience and condition that lays the foundation upon which the creation and evaluation of art rests. A Fine Arts major with an art emphasis features studio experiences combined with a broad-based liberal arts background. Students will take courses in western and non-western art history, as well as studio courses such as drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, arts and crafts, photography and electronic art as part of this multi-faceted major. Course Descriptions
BA degree
Although the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree does not require a portfolio review we encourage students to submit a portfolio so that we might better place students within our program.
BFA degree
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree is a more rigorous and demanding studio degree. Students who wish to pursue the BFA degree in the area of studio art at Lock Haven University are asked to submit a sampling of their work in the form of a portfolio. The portfolio requirements for the BFA can be found here. BFA portfolio requirements
