Communication (Written)

Outcome: Students will communicate effectively in writing.

The university's general education curriculum prepares students to communicate effectively in writing through an introductory course in composition and a series of Writing Emphasis courses, many of which students will complete in the course of fulfilling requirements for their major. The university gathers data for assessing students' skills in written communication from selected WE courses each year. Periodically the University also obtains data from the Proficiency Profile Test (ETS).In addition, the university also reviews data from majors that assess their students' written communication skills.

The WE rubric was prepared by the University Writing Committee. For questions concerning the rubric or its use, please contact Rick Van Dyke by email or at extension 2497.
