Dr. Everhart has been a part of the faculty in the Department of Health and Physical Education at Lock Haven University since the beginning of the Spring 2008 semester. After teaching inner-city elementary physical education in Georgia, Dr. Everhart began his university teaching career as an assistant professor at Appalachian State University where he worked closely with teaching majors, setting up a variety of clinical teaching experiences including the nation's largest clinical experience at a university in which home-schooled students participated.  Following his work at Appalachian State, he served in a variety of leadership and administrative roles in higher education at Anderson College (SC) and the University of Texas at Arlington where he coordinated the graduate program in the Department of Kinesiology as well as the teacher certification track for undergraduates in the department.  Although Dr. Everhart has extensive experience in curriculum development, assessment and program accountability in higher education, much of his passion comes from working with college students as they prepare for teaching careers in health and physical education.  While his primary background is in teacher preparation in physical education, his educational background also enables him to teach Adapted Physical Education at LHU.  His work with inner-city students in physical education in Georgia and Alabama have provided a stimulus for him to develop and revise curricular models that help teachers meet a variety of needs in different settings.  Recently, in addition to his faculty role, Dr. Everhart assumed the role of Director of Teacher Education in the College of Education and Human Services at LHU, focusing on assessment and program/unit accountability. His wife Kim is also a faculty member in the Department of Health and Physical Education at LHU. The Everharts have two sons, Tyler (14) and Kyle (11) both of whom attend school in the Keystone Central School District.
