The French Club Presents a Canadian Movie from Quebec

Room 118 of the Willis/Health Professions Building

Monsieur Lazhar [2011] is a compelling drama directed by Philippe Farladeau that tells the story of an Algerian immigrant hired at a Montréal public grade school to replace a popular teacher who committed suicide in her classroom.

“Winner of the award for Best Canadian feature film at the Toronto Film Festival, Monsieur Lazhar is a low-key, low-budget, and often humorous film that observes rather than preaches, and, though the script offers many opportunities, avoids clichés and cloying sentimentality" Howard Schumann, Critical Movie critics.

This film will be shown in French with English subtitles. All LHU students are invited to this free event sponsored by the Lock Haven University French Club.
