Students who are employed or are seeking employment at Lock Haven University must read the Student Employment Practices at this link.  Also at this link are the forms that new LHUP student employees must complete once they have found employment.  Do not complete this paperwork until you have obtained a job.

  STUDENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - On Saturday, December 5th, Hope For Kids will be holding its’ annual holiday party for children in foster care and their families. The event will begin at 10:30 AM and conclude at 3:00 PM. This year’s location is Faith United Methodist Church at 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte. (Located behind Bellefonte High School Football Field).  Hope For Kids is a faith based, non profit provider of therapeutic foster care, adoption and early child care education. It is located in State College and provides services to several rural as well as urban cities and towns.

Tutors needed for Spring 2010 semester.  Tutors provide group peer tutoring and are paid $7.25/hour. 

Qualifications:  Outstanding students with great people skills are needed to tutor general education courses not covered by the Math and Writing Centers.  Qualifications are:
1.  3.0 GPA or better in major
2.  2.5 GPA or better
3.  An A or B in the class you wish to tutor.  Exceptions are made introductory courses not required for majors, e.g. physics majors. 
4.  Recommendations from two LHU faculty (use form at the web site)
5.  Take ADAC 200 and get C or better in class. 
(Start tutoring the same semester after first week in class)

2.  Click "Tutor Responsibilities".  Read them for a better understanding of tutoring.  Print out, sign and submit with application.
3.  For the LHU faculty recommendations, please use the form linked under "Recommendation Letter to become a Tutor".  Either hard copy or email is acceptable.

ON-CAMPUS OPPORTUNITY - Lock Haven University and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) will be conducting Swimming Officiating Classes on November 17th at Zimmerli Gymnasium Room #7 beginning at 6:30pm.   The classes are FREE to any Lock Haven student with a valid I.D.  Others interested in attending must pay a $30 fee.   

Participants in the START program for swimming will attend three sessions on consecutive weeks.  The first session will be a distribution of information packets, rule books and officiating basics.  Session two will be rules education class and question and answer period and the third session will be a PIAA rules certification test.  Current PIAA officials will conduct the sessions.      Once certified, participants will be provided the opportunity to begin officiating locally in PIAA events.  Participants must attend all three sessions.  Preregistration is not required. 

The classes are part of the START (Students of Today Are Referees of Tomorrow) program created to encourage current students, particularly student-athletes, to “stay in the game” by becoming an official.  The START program is sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and other small college conferences in Pennsylvania.

OFF-CAMPUS Roads to Freedom Center for  Independent Living of North Central PA (CLNCP) is searching for people interested in conducting independent Monitoring for Quality interviews with individuals who receive Mental Retardation  services and supports.  We are looking for people with disabilities, family members who have a loved on with a disability, college students, retired persons and interested others to conduct interview in the following areas:  Columbia, Montour, Snyder, Union, Lycoming, Clinton and Tioga counties.  Interviewers are paid $20 per interview completed.  All interview are done by a team of two people.
