PHEAA Quality Early Education
Loan Forgiveness Program
If you earned an Associate or Bachelor’s
degree in Early Childhood Education or a
related field in the last two years—even if
you’ve applied before—you may now be
eligible for PHEAA’s loan forgiveness
program.
In June 2006, The Pennsylvania Higher
Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) adopted
expanded eligibility criteria for its
Quality Early Education Loan Forgiveness
Program. These changes make it possible for
many more educators to have their student
loan debt forgiven.
Under the new eligibility requirements
·
You do not have to have Early Childhood
Education (ECE) teacher certification;
·
You may have an Associate or Bachelor’s
degree in Early Childhood Education or a
related field;
·
You may work in DPW registered family
childcare homes, and Head Start programs
(staff working in child care centers and
group child care homes were already
eligible),
·
Earn an annual income of up to $30,000.
