Foreign Languages

B.A. French or Spanish

At Lock Haven University, you may earn a bachelor of arts degree in one of three languages: French or Spanish. Along with developing a high degree of proficiency in these languages, you will also take courses in the literature of those cultures. You are also strongly encouraged to spend at least one semester studying abroad at one of LHU's partner universities in a country where the language is spoken. You will not only gain a greater understanding of the language and the culture, but will also enhance your marketability for future employment or for entrance into graduate school.

Career Opportunities

Today more than ever, we live in a global economy. You will have a much greater opportunity for career growth if you are fluent in more than one language. You may also choose to declare a dual major in an area such as business, international studies, communications, or the sciences to make you highly qualified for various jobs.

Faculty

All foreign language faculty are proficient in the language they teach and all have lived or studied in countries where the language is spoken. They are also professionally active, lecturing, writing and attending conferences. Your small classes will be taught by these professors, not graduate assistants. They are always available in and outside the classroom to help you make the most of your college experience.
