To configure automatic updates on a Windows XP system perform the following steps:

1.  Click the Start button --> Control Panel.

2.  Double click on the Automatic Updates icon in the control panel window.  If you don't see the icons click the Switch to Classic View option in the Control Panel window.


 

3.  Click on the option for Automatic (recommended) and select a time when your computer will look for updates.



4.  Click on the OK button.
