CHEM103 The Chemistry
of Art (sp; 2/2)

An introduction to chemical
concepts and safety concerns that are important to
understand and properly handle art materials. Students are
introduced to the chemical and physical properties of pure
substances and explore how these properties change when
substances are mixed. Hazards that are involved with these
substances will also be explored. In the laboratory
component the student will explore how chemical and physical
properties change as they work with the art materials in
common use.
