An introduction to the chemistry of nutrition emphasizing nutrients and their interactions in the body. The chemical composition, energy value and by-products of food elements and water will be related to the needs of the human system. Nutrition will be studied not only from the point of view of how to get the necessities of life, but also what effect they have on the human being. Prerequisite: high school chemistry or permission of the instructor.This course cannot be used for chemistry credit by chemistry majors or minors.
