Health & Physical Education

The Health and Physical Education Department is made up of a group of dedicated faculty and staff members that serve our LHU students in two ways. Since 1935, our HPED majors' program has provided a structured curriculum and professional experiences for students to teach physical education, work within the health, coaching, and fitness fields, or qualify for further graduate studies.

The health and physical education major at LHU is offered within the College of Liberal Arts and Education. Our HPED majors have been provided with the course work and field experiences that allows our graduates to qualify for K-12 teaching certification or to work in a variety of non-teaching fields such as Coaching, Correctional Settings, and Aquatics.

Secondly, several of our HPED courses help our non-majors meet the Wellness General Education requirement while assisting students in developing a personal wellness lifestyle. These courses focus on general wellness and encourage students to improve their overall health and optimal well-being.

Finally, our Health and Physical Education Department also offers academic minors in both Coaching and Aquatics.
