PreK-Grade 8 and Professional Studies
This department is home for 5 programs including two undergraduate and three graduate programs. The undergraduate programs are: Early Childhood Education-PreK-Grade 4; and Elementary/Middle Level Education- Grades 4-8. Graduate programs in the department include: M.Ed. Alternative Education; M.Ed. Teaching & Learning; M.Ed. Educational Leadership.
Continuing a proud tradition that began with the founding of the Central State Normal School in 1870, LHU's PreK-Grade 8 Education & Professional Studies focuses on providing excellence in educator preparation. All programs are National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education accredited and all certification programs are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Students have the benefit of working with highly qualified and experienced Professors in the classroom and combining the classroom experience with participation, field experiences, internships, and student teaching experiences.
