Department Sponsored Activities
Kent’s Fest is an annual event sponsored by the Department of Special Education and supported by the family of Kent Glossner. Kent was a graduate of LHU from the special education program who passed away in 2001. Kent’s Fest provides an opportunity for both children and adults with disabilities to spend a day celebrating their musical talents. Each year a different theme is chosen for the event. Themes have included Disney, Dr. Seuss, and ho down celebrations.

Study in Comparative Special Education in the Dominican Republic
During Winter Intersession, students have the opportunity to study in the Dominican Republic. This study includes learning about the Dominican culture, the educational system, international teaching opportunities, and special education services as they evolve. In January of 2014, 17 students took advantage of this amazing opportunity. During their ten day stay in the DR, the students had the opportunity to teach in two different schools and to participate in several service learning projects.
