The Business Administration, Computer Science, and Information Technology (BACSIT) department is located in on the main campus of Lock Haven University inside Akeley Hall. Akeley Hall is one of the oldest buildings on campus. Inside Akeley BACSIT occupies the entire second floor. Our facilities consist of three classrooms, an instructional lab, a Windows lab, a Linux lab, and faculty offices. |
The three main classrooms used by our department are all equipped with a computer enabled instructor station, a projector, and a SmartBoard. Each classroom holds approximately 30 students, keeping our classes small and personal. |
Our department also has exclusive access to a state of the art instructional lab. This lab is equipped with 27 Windows-based computers, an instructor station, a projector, and a SmartBoard. This classroom allows faculty to teach new technology using hands on techniques. When not in use, this classroom serves as an open lab for our students. |
The Linux lab is another great resource for our students. This lab is run entirely by our majors, giving our students hands on experience administering Linux-based PCs. Available only to students within our department, this lab serves as a great place to do homework or to collaborate on student projects. Faculty also use this lab for instruction. |
Also located on the 2nd floor of Akeley Hall is a fully equipped Windows-based lab that is open to the entire study body. This lab's proximity to the rest of our department's facilities makes it very convenient for our majors |
Faculty offices are located across the hall from our classrooms. Thanks to extensive office hours and an open door policy, our students have easy access to our faculty outside of the classroom. With all of our facilities located on the same floor, our students get "one stop shopping" for their academic needs. |
