Lock Haven University proudly supports a Criminal Justice Club on the main campus and at the Clearfield Campus.  This is a student run organization.  Membership is composed of students at all points of study during the pursuit of the degree and freshmen are encouraged to get involved with the organization and attend meetings.

The Criminal Justice Club is supported with a budget from the Student Cooperative Council.  The club engages in a variety of activities each semester.  Activities are selected and led by the student members.  Examples are:  sponsor of guest speakers on campus, field trips to sites of interest to criminal justice majors (examples include: the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, the Police Museum in New York City, and a Washington, DC site visit).  Recently, the Clearfield club, the Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association, took a trip to Riker’s Island in New York.

The club also engages in fund raisers periodically and the membership serves as resources to prospective students to answer major related questions.

Club membership and involvement is a good way to engage in meaningful experiences that allow students to explore a variety of criminal justice disciplines. Meetings are held at least twice a month.

Alpha Phi Sigma

(National Honor Society in Criminal Justice)

In fall 2007, Lock Haven University established a local chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, the National Criminal Justice Honor Society.  Our local chapter is known as Iota Sigma.  Dr. Fennell sponsored the effort, as advisor, to found the Iota Sigma Chapter at Lock Haven.  The national headquarters is located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Students belonging to this club must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher, must be in the top 35% of the class, must have completed three semesters at LHU, and must have completed four required courses of criminal justice classes declared as a criminal justice major, minor, or law field leading to a baccalaureate or graduate degree.

The Iota Sigma Chapter has sponsored food drives consisting of non perishable food items to help local families in need.

If you have any questions, please contact one of the fall 2009 officers listed below.

Club meetings are held 2-3 Wednesdays per month at East Campus J301.
