Requirements for Math Learning Center
Your name, the title of the center, and the grade level should be on center somewhere. Make it an attractive display – something that the children will want to see and use. Choose one of the following:
A) Include 3 different learning activities in the center. They can all meet the same objective, or should be related in some way.
OR
B) Do one activity that is leveled. This means that it is a useful lesson for:
1) children that are just learning the concept or are struggling with it
2) children that are practicing the objective; AND
3) for children that have a firm grasp on the concept and need an enriching activity to extend their thinking.
The center must be self-checking, or must include a manageable way for the teacher to check the work. You must include directions, a goal, and statement regarding the number of students that may be at the center at one time. A management sheet of some kind is also necessary. How will you know when each student has used the center? What were their results?
