Lock Haven University offers students to opportunity to develop the skills and strategies to become highly employable teachers of children from birth through the 4th grade. Our graduates work in public schools, Head Start, PreK Counts, Child care facilities, and a variety of other settings that specialize in the care of young children.

Our program has maintained ongoing accreditation for more than 25 years and has a strong tradition of preparing teachers to work with the youngest learners.

Coursework includes:

  • 42 credits in General Education Study

  • 20 credits in Professional Education including Social Foundations, special education, and educational psychology

  • 46 credits in required Early Childhood coursework

  • One professional practicum and 2 student teaching placements
