Economic
Development
As
reported by the Pennsylvania State System of Higher
Education (PASSHE), LHU is
one of 14 System
universities that are
economic engines in their regions and across the
state. Every year, billions of dollars are
turned back into the
state's economy through the
universities.
LHU and PASSHE define
economic development as efforts to encourage,
enhance and assist in the development and expansion
of new and existing business and employment
opportunities, in order to support and increase
economic activity. These efforts can include, among
others, local and regional partnerships; workforce
development, i.e., education and job skills training
for current and new employees; research and
development assistance; direct financial and/or
technical assistance to all types of business and
industry; and public infrastructure enhancements.
