Careers In Economics

Employers hiring liberal arts graduates frequently favor economics majors. In addition to broad backgrounds, these students have acquired analytical skills and a knowledge of the economy that can prove highly useful in the jobs they seek.

Business firms, small and large, often hire economics majors for their management training programs. Positions include those in personnel, production, finance, and sales in such industries as:

  • banking and finance

  • insurance and real estate

  • lodging, dining, and recreation

  • health care

  • educational services

  • information technology

  • textile products
  • construction and mining
  • transportation and communication
