PPST Tests: Praxis
I Exams
All students majoring in teacher education
at Lock Haven University must successfully pass the Pre-Professional
Skills (PPST) Tests in Reading , Writing, and Mathematics
prior to being admitted into the teacher education program.
Furthermore, students may not enroll in 200 level education
courses that programs have identified as "gateway courses" until
such time that all PPST scores are passed (This is Childrens Literature - EDUC 202 - for Elementary Education Majors.) Passing scores MUST be recorded in the Teacher Education Office.

PDE has used the Praxis I (PPST I), Basic Skills testing composite score since September 15, 2005, as it potentially helps a candidate who may excel in one of the three areas but is weak in another area. In addition to the composite score cutoff, currently set at 521, candidates must also achieve a minimum score on each of the three tests. Effective January 1, 2009, the Bureau has established new minimum scores:

Getting Your Praxis™ Scores
Your official score report will be available to you online via your Praxis account on the score report release date, approximately four weeks after the test date. Beginning with the September 2009 administration, online scores will be downloadable and available for forty five (45) calendar days from the score reporting date. We recommend saving a copy of your score report for future reference. Your scores will also be sent to up to three (3) institutions/agencies that you select during the registration process.
Scores are also available to you by phone for a $30 fee (per request). Scores are not reported to institutions or agencies by phone.
You may order additional score reports for a fee. |

Praxis II Series:
1 - Fundamental of Subjects: Content Knowledge
2 - Elementary Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment
All candidates in Elementary teacher education
at Lock Haven University must register for and complete the
Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge and Elementary Curriculum,
Instruction, Assessment prior to the first day of student
teaching. Passing scores on these two exams will be required
for certification, but are not required to student teach.
However, candidates must attempt the tests prior to student
teaching. Candidates MUST present their admission ticket
or praxis score report in the Teacher Education Office for
verification that all required tests have been taken.

You are also encouraged to register for the Paper/Pencil
tests online HERE.
When you register for the Praxis exams, pay special
attention to the test numbers and the format for the
test.
