Environmental Club Minutes 9/22/10

Introductions!

§ Saved paper by putting the article on his phone!

§ The bacteria was NOT eating the oil in the Gulf it was only eating the gas.

§ Hoping it will eat the oil eventually but it’s not likely.

Officer’s Report

o President

§ Liability forms need to be completed be each member of the club and returned back to Danielle ASAP

§ Jake needs a form along with the people that were unable to make the meeting today

§ Looking into P.E.E.C

§ Sieg is happening this semester in October

o Bob Meyers

§ Adopted Glenn Rd. which means we clean it twice a year

§ We did a clean up last year

§ We can clean it whenever we want

§ Sunday October 17^th, 2010 is a potential clean up day, will be in touch about it.

o Vice President

§ River clean up was a blast. We should look into doing it again sometime.

o Treasurer

§ Phone numbers were only taken for use at events if we get separated so no need to worry about us contacting you via phone, it will be primarily email.

§ There will be an updated list of contacts sent out shortly

§ $1200 in our budget will mostly be used for P.E.E.C.

§ Maybe P.E.E.C. will be done in the spring so we have more time to plan for it.

§ Fundraising ideas because the budget only pays for 10 people to go to P.E.E.C. Don’t want to have people have to pay to go.

o Sieg

§ Get other clubs to come with

§ For those who don’t know what Sieg is, it’s a conference center owned by the University for conferences and for clubs and organizations to rent out.

§ Maybe for a committee to handle the events at Seig

§ Activities?

· Clean up the creek

· Show a movie

· Nature walks and birds

o Sell pens, reusable water bottles

o Soda tops and bottle caps

o Anti- Idling: to get people to stop leaving their cars on and get them to turn it off

§ Get our stuff put in the Monday announcements

· Put an environmental tip in the email?

o Earthe Day

§ Turn lights off on campus for an hour and maybe hold something on campus?
