Black Student Union (BSU) and
Student Association of Latinos con Sabor Americano
(S.A.L.S.A)
Formed in 1970, the Union creates an
awareness of African American culture and brings about a socializing force in a
positive direction. The society actively sponsors speakers, cultural and social
events and coordinates Black History Month activities with other campus
organizations. Membership is open to all students.
S.A.L.S.A. (Student Association of Latinos con Sabor Americano) was created to bring Hispanic students together and to provide the campus with great awareness of this culture.
The Distinguished
Gentlemen
The Distinguished Gentlemen was founded November 5, 1997. This organization was founded by four distinct young scholars of Lock Haven University. The four founders were Albert Jones, Maurice Pittman, Jaime Patton, and Eric Holmes. This organization was designed to unite African American men on this campus and to promote a positive image for African Americans on this campus and throughout the community. This was also designed as a brotherhood for African American men on Lock Haven Universities predominately white campus. The Distinguished Gentlemen were to assist the upcoming freshmen to promote a sense of comfort. These gentlemen helped others academically and throughout the community.
G.S.A.
The Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) is an
organization on campus that gives support to Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgender students on Campus. Our mission is to give these students support
and a safe place to talk about their feelings and different issues happening on
campus. We are here to provide help and make students more comfortable and
secure
in the LHU community.
