Active Projects 2002-2003
Below are projects previously prioritized and approved. Individual projects are at various stages of
activity ranging from “not yet started” to “nearing completion”. Projects completed and under warranty are
shown in the previous section – Prior Year’s Accomplishments.
Perennial
Projects
Paving Repairs ($50,000)
Paving repairs to parking lot and road surfaces to
maintain them in good condition. Also
includes new paving projects for small areas.
Concrete
Repairs ($50,000)
Repairs
to concrete infrastructure as required for safety and
Vehicles
Replacements ($0)
Life cycle replacement of various
vehicles dependent on age and condition. Includes Maintenance vehicles but not
vehicles assigned to other departments
Master
Planning Study (Budget $250,000)
A study that plans the facility needs for the next 5,
10 and 20 years. Study is required by
the Board of Governor, SSHE and must be renewed every 5 years.
The installation of
Fire Alarm/Pager
System Replacement ($215,000)
Replacement and upgrade of the central fire alarm
monitoring system and separate paging system used for alarm notification. System is located in Glennon Infirmary in the
Law Enforcement offices.
Sieg
Sanitary System Investigation and Renovation ($50,000)
An investigation of the existing
sanitary system operation and plans for upgrading. Includes a study of alternatives for upgrade
and code requirements. Study is complete
and evaluating alternatives.
Pedestrian
Mall Fountain ($35,000)
A
donor funded project to install a fountain in the circle by the library.
Chair
Factory Roof Replacement ($75,000)
Roof replacement due to
significant leakage. Need to
ensure integrity of roof due to materials stored in building.
Cleaning of the building exteriors. This needs to be completed every 5-7 years.
Technology
Enhanced Classrooms ($250,000) DELETED
Monies provided to support technology enhancement of
classrooms. Will be
coordinated with the University’s Technology Plan.
Installation of the 2 satellite
dishes provided by the capital project for Clearfield Construction. Dishes will be installed to the North of the
new building.
Electrical
Metering all buildings ($25,000)
The installation of demand power meters to monitor
electrical consumption by building. Will
provide the means to identify and correct high power consumption.
Campus Fiber
Optics Upgrade ($275,000)
A project to increase the amount
of fiber optic cable available on campus. This will allow us to increase the number of
service provided on fiber replacing older, less effective means of service
distribution.
Zimmerli
Cardio Phase II Study ($25,000) Project Cancelled
A study to define the scope of
work for Phase II of the
International
House Fire Alarm and Sprinklers ($10,000)
Installation of water supply
system, fire alarm and sprinkler system to the International House. This is a Board of Governors mandated
project.
Resand and
Resurfacing of the wood floor due
to use and condition. Will include repainting of logos on the floor surface.
Replace
Roof – Thomas Field House ($400,000)
Life cycle replacement of the TFH
roof. Roof will be
replaced with a metal roof to extend life and serviceability.
Air Condition 3 Classrooms – Ulmer South ($100,000)
The installation of air conditioning in the 3
classroom, South Ulmer, centrally located within the structure. These rooms have no widows or outside wall
for a window mount unit.
Cover Steps to Upper Campus ($50,000)
To prevent snow and leaf
accumulation. Includes the steps from Raub to North Hall.
Room Ventilator Replacement – Sloan Hall ($800,000)
Replacement of the in-wall room
ventilators. The existing
units are noisy, a replacement issue
and do not provide adequate control of temperature
Replace/Renovate Steps to Woolridge from parking lot
($25,000)
Existing concrete steps have deteriorated due to
weather and salt usage. Condition will
eventually be a safety hazard.

Hot Water System Change to Electric – Energy Raub Hall ($12,500)
An energy savings project to
reduce the usage of steam from Akeley. This will allow smaller boilers to be
installed at Akeley

Generator
Replacement – Glennon ($65,000)
Replacement of the emergency generator that is beyond
it normal life and has an extensive repair history.

One Card
Access System ($250,000) (DELETED)
An allowance of monies to start the installation of the one card
system.
Exterior
Bldg Lights to Sodium – Energy ($70,000)
Replacement of the incandescent exterior building
lights to high pressure sodium. Will
improve appearance by matching outside lighting and provide energy savings.
Raub HVAC Warranty Replacement – supporting funds
($12,000)
The
second stage compressor will be replaced but requires a crane and significant
other expenditures.
The
Warranty only covers materials.
McEntire Hall Renovation, Fire Alarms and Sprinklers
($234,400)
Installation of Board of Governors mandated
sprinklers and fire alarms. Year 3 of a 5 year plan.
McEntire Hall Mechanical Electric and Data Renovations
($895,000)
Life cycle renovation work on building infrastructure.
Roger’s
Gymnasium Renovations – Engineering ($1,820,000)
Renovation in kind of the existing
structure using capital funds.
Work is being handled by the Department of General Services and is
presently in the final design stage
Renovation of Vo-Tech to Medical Professions Bldg.
($1,796,000)
A DGS capital projects for which design funds have
been released but no action taken to assign
an architect/engineer by DGS. System
office is requesting delegation of project to LHU.

Bentley Dining Hall – Expansion study
($20,000)
A study of alternatives for expansion and moving the main entrance.
President’s
Residence Renovation ($250,000)
Life cycle renovation work on the Residence finance by the System
Office.
