How much does winter intersession cost?
For the 2009-2010 academic year, t
he total cost of tuition and fees for a 3-credit undergraduate, web-based course is $865.30 for a PA resident and $902.55 for a non-PA resident.  In addition a one-time Registration/Transcript fee of $25.00 will be assessed if the student has not paid this fee previously.  Book cost is extra.  For additional cost information, click here

I’m taking less than 18 credits spring semester.  Can my winter intersession credits be combined with my spring semester credits so I can be billed the flat tuition rate for 12-18 credits?
No.  Winter intersession is a session separate from the fall semester and the spring semester; therefore, it must be billed as a separate session. Intersession credit hours cannot be combined with fall or spring semester credit hours for purposes of determining tuition and fee charges.

Will my tuition and fee charges be adjusted if I drop my winter intersession class?
Winter intersession tuition and fee charges will be removed from your student account if you drop the class by December 18th.  If you drop after this date, you will be charged for the course whether you participate or not.

Are housing and meal plans available for winter intersession?

No.  There are no housing or meal plans for winter intersession since all classes are web-based.

When will I receive a bill?
Winter intersession bills will be mailed home at the beginning of December.

When is the bill due?
The winter intersession bill is due December 21, 2009.

I received a bill that says "due upon receipt".  What does that mean?
"Due upon receipt" means that the bill is currently due and should be paid immediately.

How do I pay my bill?
To pay online via MasterCard, Discover, or electronic check (i.e. eCheck), log into LHU’s Student Information System and click on the Student Payments link.  Then follow the instructions provided.  Visa cannot be accepted.

Paper check and money order payments should be sent, along with bill stub, to the following address:

Lock Haven University
P. O. Box 951688
Cleveland, OH 44193

Be sure to include the student’s name and student ID number on all payments.

Please Note:  All other correspondence, including payments without a bill stub, should be sent to:

Lock Haven University
Student Financial Services
118 Russell Hall
Lock Haven, PA 17745

Payments can also be made via cash, check, or money order at the SFS customer service counter, 123 Russell Hall.  Credit card payments must be made online as indicated above.

Does Lock Haven offer a payment plan for winter intersession?

No.  There is no payment plan for winter intersession.  Payment of tuition and fees is due by the due date printed on the bill.

What happens if I don't pay by the due date or the bank returns the check?
A late fee of $50.00 will be assessed if the balance due is not paid by the January 27th. Non- matriculated students and students who are not registered for spring semester will have holds placed on their accounts after the winter intersession bill due date of December 21, 2009.  All other students who are registered for spring semester and who do not pay both their winter intersession and spring bills by January 27th will have holds placed on their accounts until those bills are paid in full.  A hold blocks schedule changes, pre-registration, and transcript requests.

A Returned Check Charge of $25.00 is assessed when the bank returns a check due to insufficient funds. A complete listing of all fees and charges is available at:
www.lhup.edu/financial-services/Miscellaneous-Fees.htm

Is financial aid available for winter intersession?
There is no
financial aid for winter intersession; however, students who have excess spring semester financial aid may use that aid to pay their winter intersession bill.  Students who do so should note that their spring refunds will be reduced by the amount of excess spring aid used to pay winter intersession tuition and fee charges.

No action must be taken by the student to apply excess spring semester aid to winter intersession charges.  If the winter intersession bill is not paid by the due date and the student has excess spring semester aid, the student’s excess aid will automatically be applied to his/her winter intersession tuition and fees.

Please Note:  Only continuing students may carry winter intersession charges forward to spring.  Students who are not registered for spring semester must pay their winter intersession bill before they will be permitted to register for spring term classes.

Do winter intersession credit hours affect my spring semester financial aid eligibility?

For most students, no.  However, for students enrolled part-time spring semester, winter intersession credit hours will be combined with spring semester credit hours to determine financial aid eligibility.  For example, if an undergraduate student takes 3 credit hours during winter intersession and 6 credit hours spring semester, his/her spring semester financial aid will be based on ¾-time, rather than half-time, enrollment.  This ‘special’ determination and use of enrollment status pertains to financial aid eligibility for spring semester only (see note below).

Please Note:   Winter intersession is a session separate from the fall and spring semesters.  It cannot be combined with either of these semesters for determining full-time enrollment for student-athlete eligibility, health insurance coverage, etc.  In addition, the intersession will be billed as a separate session.  Intersession credit hours cannot be combined with fall or spring semester credit hours for purposes of determining tuition and fee charges.

How does my winter intersession coursework affect my financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status?

Winter intersession credit hours are combined with spring semester credit hours when your Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status is checked.  SAP is checked each year after spring semester.  To view LHU’s financial aid SAP policy, please click here.

Whom should I contact if I have a question not addressed above?
