Transferring to LHU

LHU's Office of Student Financial Services mails specific information about financial aid application requirements and deadlines to each accepted transfer student.  The following general steps are required in order to receive financial aid consideration at LHU.

  • The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be
completed by all financial aid applicants for each year of attendance at LHU.  Students may complete only one FAFSA per academic year.  If you have already completed a FAFSA but are not sure you listed LHU as a recipient of the FAFSA results, you must do the following:

Review your FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov to see if you listed LHU as one of the schools to receive your information.  If you did not list LHU, please correct your FAFSA to include us.  LHU's Federal School Code is 003323.

  • Pennsylvania State Grant
applicants must specify LHU as the recipient of all state grant information.

If you did not list LHU as the first school on the FAFSA, you must inform PHEAA Grant Division of your enrollment change.  Please go to AES/PHEAA's home page at www.aessuccess.org.  Click on "Account Access", login, then go to the State Grant Status area to make online changes to your school information.  If you need assistance, you may contact AES/PHEAA at 1-800-692-7392.

  • Federal Stafford Loans, Federal PLUS Loans, and Alternative Loans
approved for attendance at your previous school cannot be disbursed to LHU.

If your previous school processed a loan or scheduled loan disbursements for a term during which you will not be enrolled at that school, you must cancel the disbursement(s) by contacting your lender, guarantor (e.g. AES/PHEAA 1-800-692-7392), or previous school.

If your parent wishes to borrow a Federal PLUS Loan for your attendance at LHU, s/he may either apply online at www.aessuccess.org or obtain a Federal PLUS Loan application from a participating lender.

  • Deferment of Loan Payment
You may be eligible to defer payment of Federal Stafford Loans, Federal Perkins Loans, and Alternative Loans borrowed at your previous school(s).  Please contact your lender or loan servicer regarding eligibility for deferments.  Contact the LHU Registrar's Office, 127 Russell Hall (570-484-2006) to have any required deferment or enrollment verification forms completed.

  • Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirements
All students are required to meet satisfactory academic progress      requirements to maintain eligibility for State and Federal financial aid        programs.  A transfer student’s eligibility for the PA State Grant may        be based on credits completed at a previous school(s). You may        contact AES/PHEAA (1-800-692-7392) for more information about        eligibility criteria.  For federal student aid, academic progress is        measured only by the school the student is attending.
