The Foreign Language Department at Lock Haven University offers majors in French, German and Spanish for either the B.S. in Secondary Education or the B.A. degree. In recent years many graduates with the B.S. degree have found employment in school districts both in Pennsylvania and in numerous other states.  A number of career options are available to the B.A. major. It can be combined with another discipline or stand alone as preparation for careers with multi-national companies, social work, psychology, or foreign service and other federal agencies.

Credits may also be earned in Italian with classes taught at LHU by exchange faculty from our partner university in Cassino, Italy.

All foreign language majors are strongly encouraged to spend a semester abroad. At the present time, Lock Haven University has exchange programs in countries where each of the three languages of concentration is spoken.
