October 2007
Dear LHU Soccer Alumni and Friends:
On September 28th the Bald Eagles defeated Kutztown 2-0 before a very special audience. Over thirty soccer alumni attended to cheer on the current team and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first national championship in 1977 and the decade of the 70s—a decade of success for LHU soccer.
Following the game, alumni, parents and players enjoyed a picnic and program that commemorated the National Championship and showcased the support and legacy of Karl Herrmann, LHU Soccer Coach for nine years and long-term supporter. Members from the teams of the 70s had the opportunity to tell Karl what he meant to them and to their lives and careers.
Karl spoke about his love of LHU soccer that began many years ago and continues today. He announced that he and his wife Lynne recently donated $30,000 to build the Karl and Lynne Herrmann pavilion that will be a prominent structure to host soccer and other sports events in the future. In addition, he challenged alumni and friends to match that $30,000 to support the current program.
This campaign will run from October 1st through January 20th where it will culminate in an LHU hosted event in Baltimore, MD during the National Soccer Coaches Convention. The goal is $30,000 to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the first National Championship and any donor who pledges $1,000 or more payable over three years will have the opportunity to have a plaque permanently affixed to the pavilion.
For more information on giving to this important campaign, please contact Troy Miller at (570) 484.3026 or tmiller4@lhup.edu.
Again, thank you very much for everything you have done for “The Haven” and we hope you will take a moment to celebrate the legacy of LHU soccer and support the soccer campaign.
With appreciation,
Troy M. Miller Director of Athletic Development
