Scholarship: For a LHU student who travels
abroad to study art. Selected by Professor Huber.
J. Frederick Hunter Memorial Scholarship: For
a rising junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0
and a current resident of Clinton or Centre County.
M. Josephine Paul Memorial Art Scholarship:
For a rising sophomore, junior or senior student
majoring in art.
Christopher Kreitler Memorial Scholarship:
For a student displaying outstanding artistic
ability or performance who is at least a sophomore
with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Jury Fine Arts Scholarship: For a rising
sophomore or junior majoring in one of the
performing or visual arts. Must have a min. GPA of
3.0. Award to be used for travel expenses to visit
large metropolitan area for the purpose of
experiencing events and activities in the
appropriate discipline, or to underwrite a campus
presentation for the benefit of the university
faculty, students and community. The 2007-2008 award
is for a music major.
Biology / Chemistry

Dr. David & Anne Ulmer Biology Memorial
Scholarship: For a full-time biology major with
at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrating financial need.
Priority order for consideration: Incoming seniors,
juniors and sophomores. (See contact person for
special application form.)
J. Frederick Hunter Memorial Scholarship: For
a rising junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0
and a current resident of Clinton or Centre County.
Marine Biology Scholarship: Biology
majors/concentrations in either marine biology or
Ecology and Environmental Biology. First priority
given to concentration in Marine Biology who has not
previously won this award. Must be in good academic
standing and have completed prerequisites for the
class to be taken at WIMSC.

For a
French secondary Education Major who is a rising
sophomore and has already taken two French courses
beyond level 4.
Fred O. Zimmerman Memorial Scholarship: For
rising junior or senior students majoring in foreign
language, based on academic achievement and
demonstration of financial need.
Dr. Cecilia Maciá Scholarship: For student
majoring
in Spanish who will participate in an LHU
international exchange to a Spanish speaking
country. Minimum overall GPA of 2.5. Minimum GPA of
3.5 in Spanish and a minimum of 60 credits
completed.
History / Political Science / Economics
Chris & Sherri Dwyer Political Science
Scholarship: For students majoring in political
science who are graduates of Central Mountain High
School.
Dr. Alan Golden Memorial Scholarship: For a
rising junior or senior History or Political Science
major with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a current
resident of Clinton or Centre County.
J. Frederick Hunter Memorial Scholarship: For
a rising junior or senior History or Political
Science major with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a
current resident of Clinton or Centre County.
Francis M. Perna Memorial Scholarship: For a
political science major who is a rising junior.
Dr. Adrians and Marta Ozolins Scholarship:
For rising sophomores, juniors or seniors majoring
in Economics or Political Science with preference
given to those majoring in Economics; based on
academic achievement and demonstration of financial
need.
Charles & Margaret Vonada Scholarship: For
rising sophomores, juniors or seniors majoring in
history, political science, or economics, with
preference given to those majoring in history; based
on academic distinction. Recipient must have
completed 64 credits, 30 of which while attending
LHU; based on demonstration of financial need.
History/Social Studies/Secondary Ed.
Nelson E. Wolfe Scholarship: For students
majoring in history, social studies with a
specialization in either history or anthropology,
who have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the
major courses; must have completed at least 45
credit hours, and have taken at least 2 major
courses at LHU.
Journalism/Mass Communication & Philosophy
Dr. Saundra K. Hybels Memorial Scholarship:
For three students majoring in Journalism & Mass
Communication. One for a rising sophomore, one for a
rising junior and one for a rising senior. Must
excel in the field of Journalism, demonstrate
financial need and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Special consideration should be given to Lock Haven
Area School District graduates. The scholarship will
be disbursed among the three recipients equally.

scholarship for a rising senior accounting major
with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Computer Science/Computer Information Science
Scholarship: To provide a one-year scholarship
to a Computer Science/Computer Information Science

LHU.
Dr. Charles Galgoci and Professor Nancy Berry
Galgoci Accounting Scholarship: For a rising
senior accounting major with the highest average
among accounting majors.
C. Herbert and Mildred R. Larson Scholarship:
For a rising sophomore majoring in Management
Science who is a resident of Pennsylvania. Minimum
GPA of 2.8.
Janet Marek Memorial Scholarship: For a
rising senior female management major with a minimum
GPA of 2.5 with demonstrated financial need and
active in community service.
Dr. Robert Seyfarth Management Studies Award:
For students majoring in Management. Recipient
must have achieved junior standing, with a minimum
of 30 semester hours residence credit in major
courses taken at LHU.

Thomas “Doc” Sweitzer Millbrook Playhouse
Internship Scholarship: To provide an internship
for an LHU student who
is a Theatre/Music major to serve an internship at
the Millbrook Playhouse. Minimum GPA of 2.5 and must
be in good academic standing.

Dr. Florentino J. Caimi "Excellence in Music" Award:
For full-time junior music majors currently
performing in the LHU marching band and one other
major ensemble in the Music Department.
LHU Band Alumni Service Awards: For full-time
sophomores or juniors participating in both marching
and symphonic bands and currently performing with
the LHU band during the semester in which the award
is presented.
Mark Groner Memorial Scholarship: For a
rising junior or senior who is a member of the LHU
instrumental performance group or Phi Mu Delta
fraternity and/or music major. Minimum GPA of 3.0.
Miriam Herr Claster Award: For students
exhibiting exceptional musical talent.
Jury Fine Arts Scholarship: For a rising
sophomore or junior majoring in one of the

Mary Josephine Torsell Scholarship: For an
LHU student who participates in the band.
Mary Ulmer Scholarship: For Pennsylvania
residents who are rising sophomores, juniors or
seniors and participate in at least one of the
University music programs and who demonstrate talent
and interest in music.

Scholarship:
For a psychology major, who is a rising junior or
senior, with min. GPA of 3.0 and demonstration of
financial need.
Social Work / Sociology
Dr. Roosevelt Green Memorial Scholarship: For a
student majoring in sociology, anthropology, social
work, criminal justice, or geography who
demonstrates respect for others, contributes to
activities that benefit the LHU community and works
to promote social justice on campus.
Hari Prasana Biswas Memorial Award:
For a senior social work or sociology major with a
min. GPA of 3.6 in major and 3.5 overall GPA.
Dolores C. Lynch Scholarship:
For a social work major who exhibits strong academic
achievement/community service.
Smith-Hinds-Shigematsu Scholarship:
For a full-time rising senior, majoring in sociology
who has achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicant
must prepare a 300-500 word statement titled "Why I
chose to be a sociology major."
Donn & Mary Ann Zaffuto Wagner Academic Scholarship:
For a rising junior social work major with a minimum
GPA of 2.5. Recipient should be an active
participant and volunteer in campus community
organizations.

Scholarship:
For a rising sophomore who is interested in a career
in athletics. Must have a good character, sports and
scholastic record in high school and while at LHU.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 and involvement in school and
community activities required.

To be awarded at the discretion of the Athletic
Director.
C. E. Taylor Jr. Memorial Scholarship:
For a female student athlete who is a sophomore,
junior or senior. Financial need may be considered.
Carol A. Eckman Memorial Scholarship:
For a sophomore coaching student with a minimum GPA
of 2.0, emphasis on character and integrity.
Elaine Pierson Memorial Scholarship:
For an LHU student athlete from Spring Ford High
School playing either field hockey or lacrosse. If
no Spring Ford H. S. graduates, then to a student
athlete playing field hockey or lacrosse. Minimum
GPA of 2.0 and contributing significantly to the LHU
athletic program. $1,000 each to Field hockey and
lacrosse.

Charlotte E. Smith Scholarship:
For a female physical education or recreation major
who plays field hockey, basketball or lacrosse.
Karen & JoAnn Weaver Field Hockey Scholarship:

significant contribution to the program.

other varsity athletes. Minimum GPA of 2.5 for the
academic year. Demonstration of financial need.
FOOTBALL: Bruno Anthony DiMartile Memorial
Scholarship: For an LHU football player with a
minimum
GPA of 2.0 who embodies the characteristics of a
successful student-athlete (preference given to an
offensive lineman).

Robert O. Booth Scholarship:
Down lineman on football team who has been a
respectable academic performer, holds at least a 2.5
GPA, who has financial need and who exhibits a
fierce sense of competition.

Swistock Family Scholarship:
For a student in good academic standing who plays
football and makes an important contribution to the
football program.

T. R. “Tommy” Tomlinson Memorial Scholarship: To
provide scholarships for LHU students participating
on the LHU Football team, maintaining a C+ average
and demonstrating leadership and moral character.
Recipients must be residents of Pennsylvania with
demonstrated financial need and
documented leadership capabilities.

Daniel V. Howard Scholarship:
For a student-athlete participating in the LHU
football program. Recipient must have played at a
Single A high school in Pennsylvania.

John & Betty Hursh Memorial Football Scholarship:
For a student participating in the intercollegiate
football program.

For a student-athlete majoring in or preparing to
teach a liberal arts discipline and playing football
at LHU. Must be in good academic standing and embody
the characteristics of a successful student-athlete.
FOOTBALL: Budd Whitehill and Morris Roman
Memorial Scholarship: For a student athlete
participating in the intercollegiate football or
wrestling program. The 2007-2008 award is for a
football player.
FOOTBALL: Craig and Marilyn Willis Family
Scholarship: For a rising senior who plays
football and makes an important contribution to the
football program. Good academic standing required.
WRESTLING: Dennis Killion
Memorial Scholarship: Based on academic standing
and demonstration of financial need.
WRESTLING: Chris Poff Memorial Scholarship:
For a qualified student in good academic
standing who participates in the intercollegiate
wrestling program.
WRESTLING: Troy Turner Memorial Scholarship:
For an outstanding student athlete participating
in the wrestling program who demonstrates strong
commitment to the LHU wrestling program and
possesses strong character in/out of the classroom.
S. Dare Lawrence Scholarship: To use for
tuition, books and other necessities.

Dr. David Thomas Memorial Scholarship: For a
female student-athlete with a minimum GPA of 3.5 who
demonstrates leadership and character.
ATHLETE: Kenneth E. Stine Memorial
Scholarship: For an outstanding student athlete
entering his or her final season of intercollegiate
athletic competition. The 2007-2008 award is for a
male athlete.
CROSS COUNTRY: James L. Dolan Alumni
Scholarship: (Men or Women): Must be at least a
sophomore with a min. GPA of 2.5 and demonstrated
financial need.
CROSS COUNTRY: Susan Dolan Scholarship:
For LHU students who are members of the LHU cross
country team with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and excels in
cross country. Special consideration will be given
to those students with financial need. To be awarded
$1,000 for a female and $1,000 for a male.
Domino’s Athletic Scholarship: For an LHU
student-athlete majoring in business, with a minimum
GPA of 3.0 and contributes significantly to the LHU
athletics program. The 2008-2009 award is for a male
athlete.

Krise Education Scholarship:
For a non-traditional female
student in a bachelor’s degree program who initiated

education at the LHU Clearfield Campus.
Robert Lynch Minority Scholarship:
For a student who is a member of an underrepresented
group. Preference given to students who are
education majors with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have
completed 32 credits.
Updegraff Family Scholarship:
For a rising senior education major who demonstrates
financial need and is in good academic standing.
Elementary
Education

Perry Brown Memorial Scholarship: For a fully
matriculated Elementary Ed. major, with a minimum
GPA of 3.0 and financial need. Must have attained
sophomore status by next semester.
Caroline Cathcart Alleman Memorial Scholarship:
For a full-time Elementary Ed. student of worthy
character and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must be active
in pre-professional activities.
Reba Franklin Gwin Memorial Scholarship:
For students majoring in elementary education who
demonstrate financial need.
James R. & Elsie Hamilton Scholarship:
For a fully matriculated elementary education major,
preferably a male student in good academic standing.
Dr. Arden W. Holland Scholarship:
For a rising sophomore, junior or senior elementary
education major. Minimum GPA of 2.5 and resident of
Clinton County.
Lew & Myla Magent Education Scholarship:
For a dual major sophomore, junior or senior
majoring in special education and a second major in
either elementary education, early childhood or
physical education with a minimum GPA of 3.4 in
special education and minimum
3.2 overall.
James C. & Carol L. Reeser Scholarship: For a
junior or senior secondary education or elementary
education major with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Recipients shall alternate between the two majors.
Anna R. Schade Scholarship: For a rising
sophomore, junior or senior in elementary education

achievement and quality of nursing care.
Leah Mae & J. Clifford Murray Memorial Scholarship:

Betty Jean Conway Memorial Scholarship: For
rising sophomore, junior or senior female residents
of York, PA majoring in either physical education,
recreation, health sciences or athletic training.
Karl & Lynne Herrmann Health Science Scholarship:
To support a rising sophomore, junior, or senior
majoring in health science.
Dr. Bruce Young Health Science Scholarship: For
a rising senior health science major with a minimum
GPA of 3.5 who is expected to graduate by August of
the following year and who has professional
potential.
Dr. Matthew G. Maetozo Recreation Scholarship for
Academic Excellence: For a student who has
completed the professional semester or is currently
enrolled with a minimum GPA of 3.2 in the recreation
major and 3.0 overall.
Cale Shaffer Memorial Scholarship: For a rising
junior Recreation major with a minimum GPA of
2.5. Recipient should be involved in community
service and show a strong willingness to help
others.
David J. Tomasi Student Athletic Training Memorial
Scholarship: For a rising senior athletic
training major with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who
demonstrates outstanding clinical skills and
potential as a certified athletic trainer.
Dr. Dora Vandine Physical Education Scholarship:
For a student who has completed the professional
semester or is currently enrolled with a minimum GPA
of 3.2 in the recreation major and a 3.0 overall.

social science, who have maintained a minimum GPA of
3.0 in the major courses, completed 45 to 85 credit
hours, and have taken at least 2 major courses at
LHU.
Thomas Calvin Hoy Memorial Scholarship: For a
rising sophomore, junior or senior secondary ed.
science major with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference
given to a Keystone Central School District graduate
who has documented financial need.
June Rich Whittaker Memorial Scholarship: For a
full-time rising junior or senior student majoring
in math, science, secondary ed. math or secondary
education science who is a resident of Pennsylvania.

Martin Luther King Study Abroad
Scholarship: For a qualified African American
student participating in an international exchange
program.
Min Shew Chu Memorial Scholarship:
For an international student achieving excellence,
demonstrating financial need and participating in
various campus activities.
Lin Di Memorial Chinese Studies Scholarship: To
provide financial assistance for regular full-time
LHU undergraduate/graduate students to study for a
semester in an LHU study abroad program in China.
Michael Greenberg, MD, MBA Award for International
Travel:
For foreign language or secondary education majors
to travel to countries of their studied
language. Based on academic achievement, financial
need and demonstration of leadership and potential
for professional proficiency.
Dr. Gary and Roberta Hopkins Scholarship:
For a rising junior who will be participating in a
semester abroad or an international student who will
be participating in a semester at LHU with
demonstrated financial need.
International Education Award:
For international students with established
financial need, a good academic record, and
involvement with campus activities.
The Johnston Scholarship:
For an LHU student participating in international
exchange program.
Marcus Konick International Award:
For an LHU student who will be participating in a
semester abroad or an international student who will
be participating in a semester at LHU with
demonstrated financial need.
Dr. Gregorz Seidler Award:
For an LHU with a proven Polish heritage who is a
rising junior or senior to defray airfare costs to
attend the Marie Curie Skladowska University in
Lublin, Poland.
The James & Gaile Woodward International
Scholarship:
For a rising junior education major who is
participating in an international exchange program
abroad (except Canada). Must have either graduated
from a Clinton, Lycoming, or Centre County high
school, or resided in in one of these counties in
the past five years.

Maude Brungard Memorial Scholarship:
For a
rising junior or senior in good academic standing.
Hall & Elizabeth Achenbach Memorial Fund:
For research expenses and learned conference travel
for students in the social studies area of history,
economics & political science, and for students in
the ROTC program at LHU.
Army ROTC Scholarship:
Two, three & four year scholarships for students of
U.S. citizenship under 27 years old on June 30 of
the year they expect to graduate from college and be
commissioned. Min. SAT score of 920 and minimum 2.5
GPA required. Accepting the scholarship will require
the student to sign a contract with the U. S. Army.
Marian Owens & Melvin R. Darrow Scholarship:
For full-time students attending main campus, who
are residents of Clearfield County. Documented
financial need required.
Frederick Douglass Emerging Leader Scholarship:
For a full-time ethnic minority student(s) who has
achieved at least sophomore status, is in good
academic standing, is an active participant in
campus organizations and programs and has
demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
Applications should be submitted to Albert Jones,
Director of Social Equity, 301 Sullivan Hall.
Vivienne Potter Elby Scholarship:
For a full-time African American student, who has
achieved at least sophomore status, with a minimum
GPA of 2.5 and who has demonstrated financial need.
First preference to be given to graduates of
Harrisburg High School, second to York High School.
Paul L. & Mary Kay Frantz Scholarship:
For fully matriculated students in the College of
Arts and Sciences with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who
demonstrates financial need. Must be at least a
sophomore by the following semester.
Samuel & Carol Fredericks Scholarship:
For rising juniors or seniors in good academic
standing.
Freida & Leah Fromm Memorial Scholarship:
For students demonstrating financial need and
academic achievement.
Joan Gallagher Memorial Scholarship:
For full-time campus or work-study students employed
in Stevenson Library.

Sue Hall Memorial Scholarship:
For a full-time female student who entered college
at least one year after high school graduation.
Priority shall be given to those who must be
employed in order to be enrolled. Please include
year of high school graduation and specifics of
present employment on application form.
Miriam B. Harris Scholarship:
For an ethnic minority student in good academic
standing who is an active participant in campus
minority programs.
May Ireland Phi Kappa Phi Scholarship:
For a full-time, rising sophomore, junior or senior
who is a member of Phi Kappa Phi. Selection is made
by a scholarship committee selected from faculty
members of Phi Kappa Phi.
Russ Jameson Memorial Scholarship:
For an LHU student who has made a difference as a
Resident Hall Assistant or on the Residence Hall
Association Board. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Applications are available at 308 Sullivan Hall.
Matthew David Klee African-American Scholarship:
For a full-time African American student with at
least 32 credits, a minimum GPA of 2.3 and
demonstrated financial need. Student must be an
active member of the Black Student Union.
Isadore Lipez Memorial Scholarship:
For a rising sophomore, junior or senior in good
academic standing who also demonstrates financial
need.
Little Scholarship:
For a non-traditional (age 26 or older) student who
demonstrates financial need.
J. Ralph & Gloria R. Lovette Family Scholarship:
For a resident of Clinton or Cambria County who is a
chemistry, management science, political science,
social
science, education or communications major. Emphasis
to be placed on leadership potential and character.
William M. Marino Jr. Scholarship:
For a Keystone Central School District graduate who
has attained sophomore status.
Ira G. & Gillian M. Masemore Scholarship:
For a full-time rising senior, majoring in either
Geology or a field of study in teacher education
leading to certification. Preference given to a
minority student.
Mellon Bank Scholarship:
For Pennsylvania residents.

Memorial Scholarship:
For full-time student(s) based on financial need and
academic merit.
Leslie & Adrienne Noelk Scholarship:
For a rising sophomore in good academic standing,
who demonstrates financial need.
Perna Family Memorial Scholarship:
For a rising senior female student with a minimum
GPA of 3.5. Recipient must demonstrate evidence of
community service.
Daniel Pyle Memorial Scholarship:
For an LHU junior or senior in good academic
standing, majoring in history, with demonstrated
financial need and an active participant
in ROTC.
Charles H. Randecker Scholarship:
To provide an annual scholarship to an academically
qualified student
with a disability. Priority will be given to a
student with demonstrated financial need and a solid
academic background.
Reiter Family Memorial Scholarship:
To provide a scholarship for a student in good
academic standing who demonstrates financial need
and is not a resident of Pennsylvania.
Jean B. Robinson Memorial Scholarship:
For an academically qualified student who has had a
positive impact on the LHU campus community and upon
the lives of the students. Minimum GPA of 3.0 and
must have completed
64 semester hours and participated in one or more
student activities such as athletics, student
government or performing arts required.
George and Genevieve K. Ross Memorial Scholarship:
For Pennsylvania residents demonstrating academic
performance and financial need.
Ernest I. Schrot Memorial Scholarship:
For an education major with an interest in education
safety, audiovisual services or driver education.
Sigma Kappa Scholarship:
For a fulltime LHU student who is a Sigma Kappa
sister in good standing, with a minimum GPA of 2.5,
who demonstrates outstanding leadership/community
service.
Sovereign Bank Scholarship:
For Pennsylvania residents.
The Jane E. Stahl Scholarship:
For a rising sophomore, junior or senior with a
minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated financial need.
Stewart/Asbell Scholarship:
To provide a scholarship for a full-time traditional
student who is married.
Mary Hauck Stillman Leadership Scholarship:
For a deserving student who demonstrates leadership
in service to his/her community. Student must submit
a short essay showing reasons why they might qualify
for the scholarship.
Phillip Story Memorial Scholarship:
For an international student who is at least a
rising sophomore with a minimum GPA of 2.5
demonstrating financial need.
Student Cooperative Council Scholarship:
For a student who has accumulated a minimum of 48
credits and has at least 2 remaining semesters at
LHU. Requirements include a GPA of at least 3.0 and
demonstration of social commitment & leadership.
Student Cooperative Council Exemplary Service Award:
For a senator or unpaid executive board member of
the LHU Student Cooperative Council, Inc., who has
displayed exemplary service to the organization.
Deanna Welshans Memorial Scholarship:
For a student with a disability, to meet expenses
beyond the ordinary needs of attending college,
based on a demonstration of financial need.
Pinio G. & James N. Williams Memorial Scholarship:
For a rising junior or senior student with a min.
GPA of 3.2 who has demonstrated outstanding
leadership skills, loyalty to LHU, great character,
and is enrolled in the College of Education and
Human Services.
Williamson-Botts Memorial Scholarship in the Arts
and Sciences:
For a full-time student enrolled in a major in the
College of Arts and Sciences. Must have a GPA of 3.5
and have earned at least 48 credit hours at LHU.
