The financial obligations of joining a fraternity are important considerations for each rushee, and the cost of membership varies with each chapter. It is essential that each member take responsibility in regard to his / her commitment to a particular organization.

The first year of membership in a Greek organization is the most expensive because of the one-time fees every new initiate must pay. Fees in this are include but are not limited to:

The Pledging Fee
This fee pays for pledge manuals, notebooks, materials, pledge pins, and national dues.

The Initiation Fee
This fee includes national dues, subscription to the national magazine, lifetime membership dues, and the initiation ceremony.

Social Dues
Part of these fees that each member pays goes into budgets that are used for expenses such as officer budgets, Rush, service projects, social functions, and special events.

In considering the financial aspects of pledging a Greek organization, it is important to remember that membership in a Greek organization is a lifestyle and cannot be compared with other clubs and groups at LHU.
