Jeff lights a match using a spotlight and a parabolic mirror.

Jim demonstrates Lenz's law in action causing closed rings to jump, while open rings do not.

Sound waves seen on oscilloscope.

Bending Water Dan and Nicole demonstrate the attraction of a stream of water to charged objects due to the polar nature of the water molecules.

Lenz's Law Jim and Tim race objects through aluminum and copper tubes. One object is a magnet and the other is not. Lenz's law is demonstrated by the magnet being slowed in its fall through the tube.

Motor Mark demonstrates his motor made of electromagnets and powered by DC cells.

Sounding Tube Jim heats up a piece of pipe and has the air cools off a deep moaning sound is heard.

InterferenceJim demonstrates constructive and destructive interference in waves.

Soap FilmsAfter the demo show many people came up to try their hand at form large buldges in the soap film and in many cases were able to break off large bubbles.
MPEG Movie (200kB) of soap film
Resonance MPEG Movie (1MB) of resonating gas flame tube.

Andy Demonstrates his Jacob's Ladder

Nicole and John do several demos with the Van de Graaff Generator

John demonstrates acoustic frequency filters using white noise, carboard tubes of different lengths and a microphone.
