Induction
Jim, with help from the audience, does several demos on induction using large
coils of wire.
|
Magnetism
Angel demonstrates the basic properties of magnets.
|
Sound and Focussing
Tim shows his parabolic sound reflector. He whispers into it and aims it around the audience
allowing only people in in line of focus to hear him.
|
|
Magnetism
Jon shows how heating can change the magnetic properties of Canadian coins.
|
Focussing
Dan tries to light a match by using parabolic mirrors to focus light from a spotlight onto a match.
|
After the show.
|
Electrostatics
John uses the Wimhurst to show how a graphite covered pingpong ball will move
between two charge plates and "pass charge" back and forth.
|
Getting ready for the show.
|
Refraction
Ray does a few demos showing refraction and total internal reflection using laser
light shinning in an aquarium.
|
Total Internal Reflection
Ray shines laser light throuh a bottle of water and through a stream of water pouring
out the other side of the jar. One can see the laser light reflecting many times
inside the stream of water as it exits the hole in the bottle.

Induction
Angel produces current in a small loop of wire which results in a magnetic field, and
the magnetic field of the loop causes the loop to jump off of a large magnet.
She also Angel uses a large coil of wire to induce current in a second wire. She uses this principle
make a ring of copper jump and make a lightbulb inside of jar water light up.
