Online Master of Education: Educational Leadership Program with Principal Certification Approved by PDE.  For More Information

LHU Faculty Complete Study of Alternative Education Practices and Policies (Complete PDF File of Study) Lock Haven University Faculty Members, Drs Nathaniel and Jessica Hosley and Dr. Myint Thein, completed a study of the perceptions of administrators and teachers on the progress made by alternative schools to meet the federal requirements of No Child Left Behind. It also included a financial analysis of the Alternative Education for Disruptive Youth funding process in Pennsylvania. The study was released by the Center for Rural Pennsylvania in September of 2009.

LHU Faculty, Staff Celebrate NCATE Reaccreditation
(Complete Press Release) One of the highlights of the 2009 Lock Haven University opening meeting was recognition of the achievement of reaccreditation by the National Council of the Advancement of Teacher Education (NCATE).

New Agreement Provides Seamless Transfer of Early Childhood Education Student From Penn College of Technology to Lock Haven University: (Complete Press Release)

LHU Department of Early Childhood Education received two grants: Projects Focus on Childcare and Early Childhood Education (Complete Press Release)

The LHU Department of Early Childhood Education has received a grant for $15,200 to implement their Gate Opener Project. The project targets teachers in Pre-K Counts, Keystone STARS, and Head Start programs. Because these teachers work full-time, accessing higher education programs can be a challenge. The project will “open gates” for these teachers to pursue additional education. The LHU Gate Opener Project will create on-line course offerings which can be used in either of two LHU masters programs.

Lock Haven University is a Fully Accredited Act 48 Provider (Complete Press Release) Lock Haven University has received approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to offer non-credit courses for Act 48 credit.

Physician Assistant Program News:

Dr. Michael Greenberg Elected Editor Journal of Physician Assistant Education
MGreenbergDr. Michael Greenberg, the Medical Director of the Master of Health Science Physician Assistant Program at LHU was elected to serve as the editor of the Medical Director Dialogue feature of the Journal of Physician Assistant Education (JPAE). The JPAE is the premier journal for Physician Assistant Education. 

Dr Greenberg completed his undergraduate education at Penn State University and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine from the George Washington School of Medicine in 1969. In addition to his studies in Medicine Dr Greenberg received his MBA from the Wharton School of Business in 1987.  Dr. Greenberg has over 40 years experience employing physician assistants in a rural primary care setting. His experience with PA utilization has been recognized by the American Academy of Physician Assistants where he has served as a consultant. In addition to his responsibilities as the Medical Director for the program, Dr Greenberg is active as a preceptor for PA students and is an advocate for the profession. Dr Greenberg serves on the executive committee of the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) and has been the American Medical Associations representatative to that organization.

Sylvia Fadrhone a current Physician Assistant Student at LHU has won this award for her work with the disabled at the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program in Telluride, Colorado.  (Complete Press Release)

 

 



Physician Assistant Program moves up Significantly in National Rankings

The 2012 Edition of U.S. News and World Report's rankings of Graduate programs ranks LHU as 25th, up from 36th in the previous ranking cycle.

LHU PA Graduate Recognized at MLB All-Star Game cdavis
Casey Davis, a 2004 Physician Assistant graduate of Lock Haven University was chosen by the Baltimore Orioles as their People magazine All-Stars Among Us winner. Each Major League Baseball team's winner will be seen during coverage of the 2010 MLBAll-Star Game. He was chosen based on his health assistance to the deaf community.

Until 2008, no Internet resource existed to explain a wide variety of health-related topics in American Sign Language for the deaf community. After five years of self-funded design and development, Casey Davis finally launched www.DeafMD.org, which provides health education videos for the deaf in their preferred language. Now, more than 90 percent of surveyed visitors report they know more about their health because of DeafMD.
