The mission of the athletic training education
program at Lock Haven University is to prepare students for
a career as an athletic trainer in traditional and non-traditional
settings. The program accomplishes this by providing its students
with a strong scientific base of knowledge and the opportunity
to develop athletic training competencies and clinical proficiencies
in the practice domains defined by the Board of Certification role delineation study. Students
develop mastery through a combination of didactic and clinical
experiences. Graduates of the program are eligible for certification
by the Board of Certification and legal certification by
the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine as well as other states.
In addition, the program prepares students for post-graduate
education in a variety of areas including athletic training,
exercise science, kinesiology, and allied health professions.
