Lock Haven University’s Athletic Training Education
Program has a strong history of graduating quality athletic trainers.
The Program has been in existence since the 1970s and continues to
flourish, typically graduating about 15 students per year. Below are
some of the highlights and reasons why we feel you should consider
attending LHU for your athletic training education.
History and Alumni – LHU has been graduating
athletic trainers since the 1970s. The large number of Program alumni
makes job and graduate school placement easy for graduating seniors.
University Size – LHU is primarily a NCAA
Division II Institution (except wrestling and field hockey which
are Division I). We feel this is the ideal size for Athletic Training
Education. Athletic Training Students are able to interact closely
with athletes and coaches, and the budget is large enough for the
Program to purchase all of the “Latest and Greatest”
Athletic Training equipment.
Student and Faculty Relationships – Because
you are accepted into the Program during your sophomore year into
a class of approximately 15 students, you get to know your classmates
extremely well. Also, there is typically a great relationship between
the students and the faculty. Many students say they love the family-type
atmosphere.
One of the Program’s primary goals is to graduate
athletic trainers who are able to walk out the door and make independent
decisions regarding an athlete’s health care. Our athletic training
students are given a great deal of freedom in regards to the decision-making
process during their time here. Athletic training students are frequently
involved in the evaluation and treatment process for LHU’s student-athletes.
You will be challenged by the Program’s Faculty and Clinical
Instructors, however you will have a great time and will learn a tremendous
amount of information. Please read on to learn more or contact the
