ASSIGNMENT of CLINICAL ROTATIONS

Once selected for admission into the Program, students have the opportunity to be assigned to five different clinical rotations utilizing Lock Haven University and affiliated sites. The assignment of students to these rotations is made to give students the opportunity to develop and apply the Athletic Training Competencies and Proficiencies. • All students are assigned a minimum of one rotation with a high risk sport.
  • All students are assigned a minimum of one rotation to a male sport and a female sport.
  • All students are assigned an off-campus rotation.
  • All students will have an equipment intensive experience.
  • All students will have a general medical experience.
  • All students will have a minimum of one upper extremity intensive experience.
  • All students will have a minimum of one lower extremity intensive experience.

Additionally, every attempt is made to give each student one rotation off in both their junior and senior year while enrolled in the program. These guidelines help to ensure a variety of different experiences while an athletic training education program student.

Clinical Assignment Requests
Students are able to make requests related to rotation assignments. These special requests may be due to student teaching requirements, block semester requirements, sports participation, and summer employment. Requests can also be made for other reasons. All special requests for the upcoming academic year need to be submitted in writing to the Athletic Training Education Program Director prior to Spring Break. Special request due to academic requirements will be given priority. An attempt will be made to honor special requests as long as they do not interfere with the quality of the clinical experience.
