The Community Health program at LHUP provides the courses necessary to implement health education in a variety of settings. Coursework develops skills in the areas of health planning, implementation, evaluation, communication and advocacy. Field experiences provide opportunities to practice the knowledge and skills attained in class. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national certification exam to be credentialed as a Certified Health Education specialist.

 

Those community settings include voluntary health organizations, hospitals, comprehensive school health programs, healthcare settings, worksite health promotion programs, health and human service agencies and other community-based settings where health education efforts are administered. Therefore the program title “Health Science/Community Health is deemed appropriate as it refers to health education efforts in a variety of settings within multicultural and diverse society.
